The Fall Festival of Thanks

At the 2nd annual BMFS Fall Festival of Thanks, the photo booth offered an opportunity for children and families to share what they are thankful for!!! Some of the answers gave me goosebumps, and not just because of the temperature that day! (it was teetering around 35 degrees!) Here are some things children were thankful for: mom, dad, family, each other, God, grandparents, candy, food, skiing, snow, kittens, BMFS and LOVE!

The Fall Festival of Thanks provides a wonderful opportunity for Brixham to give back to the community. Admission is free and open to all, with a request for donations of canned or non-perishable food items to be given to Footprints Food Pantry in Kittery, Maine. Our upper elementary students work together to plan the days’ activities and get busy bringing their plans to fruition! This year we had pony rides from Kirsten from Creek View Stables in Kittery, a puppet show from Lindsay and her Puppet Pals from Berwick, and an amazing Irish Step Dancing performance from our own Upper Elementary student Lilliana and her dance troupe. The students designed and then supervised many fun games and activities like pumpkin bowling, donuts on a string, knock-em down, ball bounce, a popcorn bar, an obstacle course, apple blast, a fire pit and more! In preparation, students popped dozens of batches of popcorn with the air poppers, blew up endless numbers of red balloons, created homemade prizes like Gak, pom-pom blasters and necklace making kits, painted a ticket booth, created signs and sets of tickets and so much more!img_0217
