One of the beauties of a Montessori classroom is its mixed age groupings. At every level, a span of ages and developmental levels are represented with younger children working alongside older children and older children working alongside teachers to give support and encouragement to one another. It’s a beautiful cycle that not only builds autonomy, confidence and independence, but also contributes to what educators refer to as 21st century learning skills, such as creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and communication. At Brixham we honor these skills and work hard to ensure that children as young as two years have an opportunity to challenge themselves and build the emotional-social skills they need to successfully navigate their classroom and the world at large. To see what this looks like in a Montessori school, please call to schedule a tour. We’d love to show you Brixham!
